Building the Doll HOuse

For my degree show, I was showcasing my animation the puppeteer, but I decided that I wanted to create a small installation to go with the piece. My original idea was to create a house and projection map into the windows of the house. Ultimately I decided to change my mind , as the windows would be too small to projection map in and the clips would be too low quality, so I looked into the idea of shadow puppets. I came up with the ideas to place lights in the windows and when they turn on you’ll see the shadow of the characters in the house. the first thing I did was build the frame of the house. I did this with the help of my dad, we used reclaimed wood and spare screws to build the frame. Once the shell was complete, I used airdry clay to create bricks and texture for the outside of the house, and I then painted it. Before painting in the details my brother helped me with the wiring of the lights. we used a small Arduino and a few lines of code, to connect the lights to small switches. The code allowed ensure the lights turned on when the switch was flicked. I then brought the house into the installation space and began the installation.
