DIFF First Frame
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Dublin International Film Festival First Frame showcase, where my short film “The Puppeteer” was selected to be screened alongside a range of films from emerging filmmakers across Ireland. The day began with a tea and coffee morning, where I had the chance to meet and talk with other young filmmakers. It was a great way to start the event, sharing ideas and discussing everyone’s projects before the screenings began.
Following the morning screenings and a lunch break, I attended an interview and Q&A with director Glenn McQuaid, where he spoke about his upcoming film “The Restoration at Grayson Manor”. Hearing about his creative process and experiences within the film industry was both insightful and encouraging.
The afternoon continued with more screenings showcasing a wide range of creative and inspiring work. The day concluded with the awards ceremony, where I was honoured to receive the Peer-to-Peer Award for Best Animation for my short film. The award is decided by fellow students and filmmakers, which made the recognition especially meaningful.
Overall, it was an inspiring day filled with creativity, learning, and the opportunity to connect with other filmmakers.
